Decaleurs are traditional quick-release mounts for handlebar bags. Unlike some modern bag mounts, they keep the bag low for better handling and for keeping the handlebars clear. The VO fork mount decaleurs are mounted on the fork's steerer tube either below the headset lock nut or within the spacer stack. Most of you don’t need the cargo capacity to land a helicopter on your rack. Sometimes, all you want to do is grab a sixer from the beer store on the way home or pick up a nice bouquet of flowers. For whatever the situation dictates, we offer the 8-Pack Rack. The 8-Pack Rack is a solid pedestal upon which you may rest a handlebar bag, grocery bag, minaudière, satchel…or whatever you use to carry your bowling ball around. The 8-Pack Rack attaches to most forks with mid-blade and crown eyelets. It uses stainless steel hardware (handily housed in a reusable Surly Tool Bag), and has the characteristic durability, versatility, and repairability all Surly products are known for. Surly Racks are well-thought-out, durable, expedition-worthy racks that work with most panniers. While their racks aren't limited solely to heavy duty touring, that is what they were designed for. When you're out on the road, the best option is to never ever have anything ever go wrong ever. Right? That's never a guarantee though; so having something that you can repair if it does break can be pretty clutch. Thus, the main bodies of Surly's front and rear racks are made from tubular CroMoly steel with stainless hardware. This means you can probably find someone out there that can torch it back into one piece in the rare instance things go south. The Front Rack is height adjustable and provides either a low or high pannier mounting position, which can be handy depending on terrain. When the ground gets rough, keep your gear high and dry. When the path is smooth and easy, you can load things low and keep everything balanced and stable, with the platform above the wheel providing yet more space for more stuff. It's worth mentioning they've redesigned the Front Rack hardware to be simpler to attach and more compatible with things like disc calipers and fenders. Surly also made attachment plates specifically for their Uni-Crown forks for yet more fork compatibility. This simpler design has fewer moving parts and costs less to manufacture; ergo, costs less for you to purchase. Surly's front rack WILL work with disc brakes on the Troll, Ogre, and Disc Trucker frames. It may take a bit of work to get clearance around the front caliper since the many different calipers out there are many different shapes. The new attachment plates will limit any DIY ingenuity you might need, but if you need to throw a washer or three behind the lower left bolt where the plate attaches to the fork dropout, that's not a big deal. As part of Surly's ongoing effort to make this planet last a little longer, they recently started shipping their racks with a small, reusable Surly Tool Bag that houses the rack struts and hardware. This switch helps eliminate the use of some polybags, thereby minimizing excess waste. Plus, you get a free tool bag out of the deal. From the people who brought you the Porteur House (Surly) comes a newer, svelter method of carrying things on your bike: the Petite Porteur House. Designed to fit both our 8 and 24 pack racks, the Petite Portuer House uses a system of six Velcro straps to securely snug it to the rack. The strap system is designed such that it will interface with many porteur-style racks with similar platform dimensions. The Petite Porteur House bag is made from durable 1050 Nylon Canvas with a polyurethane coating for protection from the elements. It uses a stiff insert in the bottom of the bag to give it shape and help keep wheel spray off your stuff. We also include four urethane coated, water-resistant nylon stuff sacks for an added layer of protection in each compartment. We've also included a handy light loop to help keep you visible and safe. The Egress Pocket is a waterproof, seam-welded, roll-top handlebar bag. It integrates with the Sweetroll and Harness, or can be used standalone on the handlebars with the included strap kit. The Mag-Tank takes a new twist on top tube bags. Instead of a zippered opening, access to the bag is by a smartly contoured top flap held in place by a magnetic buckle with mechanical engagement (read - the magnet aids in closure, while load is placed on a connection). It will not unintentionally open and spill your gummy bears when you end up in the trees with your bike upside down like a conventional magnetic closure would. You can easily open the bag one handed by pulling outward on the cord loop and you have access to the whole top of the bag. To close, just flick the flap down and the buckle self-engages! We set out to create the most stable, low profile mounted, feature loaded, waterproof seat bag available. The Spinelock seat bag checks all the boxes. The Spinelock integrates user tested and approved features like a one-way air purge valve, rear light slots, loop and bungee deck, and an external plastic bottom with a new patented attachment system. Stability was the driving element in the design process. If you want something you can pack and forget, the Spinelock is your seat bag.
