Handlebar Bags

Decaleurs are traditional quick-release mounts for handlebar bags. Unlike some modern bag mounts, they keep the bag low for better handling and for keeping the handlebars clear. The VO fork mount decaleurs are mounted on the fork's steerer tube either below the headset lock nut or within the spacer stack. Please remember that a decaleur is intended as a quick-release mechanism, not a support for the full weight of the bag; the bag must still rest on a rack or on the fender. Fork mounted decaleurs can be bent slightly to adjust the bag's height, but they might not work with very tall or short frames (for those frames we recommend a front rack with an Integrated Decaleur). Note: We strongly recommend that you use at least one strap or elastic cord, in addition to the decaleur, to secure your bag to your front rack. If you hit a large bump or pothole, it is possible that your bag could bounce up, detaching the bag from the decaleur receiver.

This modular design enables you to build the randonneur bag that best fits your needs. Our current accessory offerings include a Snapper Sack (for compact cameras and SLR lenses) and Cell Phone Pocket (fits virtually all smartphones). Both sold separately. The gusseted top flap features a clear map case for your queue sheet, control card, snacks, keys, wallet, etc. A waterproof zipper keeps it all secure and allows quick access even while riding. The front pocket is also gusseted to easily expand for stuffing and over-stuffing. You can use one of these shoulder straps for this bag. The underside has additional molle straps for the included buckle or toe-strap to secure your bag to your rack. Encouraged over rough terrain. While the bag can work with any front rack with an appropriate decaleur (or straps for the handlebar), it is designed to work best with our Randonneur and Campeur Front Racks. The rear of the bag features grommeted holes that line up perfectly with our bag mount and allow the bag to sit securely on the rack platform. The Egress Pocket is a waterproof, seam-welded, roll-top handlebar bag. It integrates with the Sweetroll and Harness, or can be used standalone on the handlebars with the included strap kit. The side profile of the Egress is curved slightly to contour around the main drybag so the bags nest well when the straps are tightened. This bag was built with the distance traveler in mind. It features a removable padded liner, giving you the option to protect electronics when the bag is removed and dropped at camp. The liner also features a small zippered pocket. On the outside, the Egress has a small carry handle and D-rings to attach a minimalist shoulder strap (included), making it a versatile travel companion. A jacket or extra layer can then be stored in the straps that typically attach it to the Sweetroll & Harness.
